Pervasive pinkification

Thoughtful piece by the Antonia Senior in the Times on the pervasive pinkification of girls, linked to the OECD's stats on the UK's disproportionate occupational gender gaps.

I write this under a well-meaning avalanche of baby girl gifts, nearly all of them pink. Taking my 2 month old daughter to a book launch dressed in a unisex velour brown babygro, it was assumed she was a boy. I've solved this for now by having a whole box of pink baby clothes that I prefer not to use, especially that sicky pastel shade. But how to defend her against the dragons of dumbed-down Disney princessdom?

This is a longshot & unrelated to your blog so apologies (but I did end up reading your entries as I broadly share the same views & it was diverting to read) but we were searching for an old school friend to send some photos of her old mates, Loveday Cuming, & the name came up on your Twitter saying she was your cousin. If she went to school in Kent, UK, & has two sisters then it may be her so pls could you pass on a contact email or something to njayc at hotmail.com . We've tried others ways of trying to find her but to no avail, perhaps being hindered by us not being in the UK. I do apologise if it isn't the same person & am wasting your time.
